On June 23, 2022, Roblox updated their Terms of Use and released a DevForum post that disallows the use of R6 and R15 avatars on off-platform commercial uses without permission from Roblox. The animation package was also well-received, primarily due to the fact that it is the first free animation pack that Roblox has released. Roblox has purchased the rights of some avatars from third-party stores like Unity and used them as Rthro avatars which drew some criticism despite Roblox being allowed to do so. Some packages have been praised for being well-made. The package itself was reported to have some flaws, where many users had issues with the head in particular as it would often not scale correctly or cause other body proportion issues when worn. The packages have received some criticism for usually looking uncanny. The scaling receives some criticism regarding funky knees and other things. While Rthro bundles are still criticized to this day, they are generally accepted by the community as seldom used in their entirety, and their general usage has primarily come from some players (usually children), trolls, and players who only purchase the bundles for specific parts such as the face or limbs (in a similar vein to the Headless Horseman and Korblox Deathspeaker bundles). Additionally, several Roblox YouTubers have heavily criticized it, claiming that it would be used by online daters.Īfter the scaling options and first Rthro bundle were released it became controversial quickly, but it was not received as negatively as people had thought. There were also fears that the new character style would not be compatible with certain hats and gears, and some also believed that Rthro would encourage online dating.Īt RDC 2017 and on the Dev Forum, multiple Roblox Developers commented on their dislike for Rthro and made jokes about it. Users also expressed concern that Rthro will replace the more traditional R6 and R15 avatar types, however this was confirmed to be false. Many arguments suggest that the former avatars were too realistic for Roblox and would only serve to push the platform further towards the uncanny valley due to conflicting with the well-known blocky appearance of avatars. Many Roblox users have criticized the realism of Rthro after it was initially announced. On October 15, 2018, another post was made to the DevForum explaining the next stage of Anthro in full detail, and also referred to it as ‘Rthro’. CloneTrooper1019 confirmed this as false on his Twitter, where he states that the scaling were what Rthro evolved into. On May 30, 2018, an announcement was made on the Roblox Developer Forum showcasing two new sliders for the Scale section in the Avatar Editor, which led many to believe Rthro had released due to the ability to scale avatars to more realistic shapes. Revisions Enhanced Avatar Scaling Options Roblox uploaded a model that would become the baseline for all Rthro packages, and can be found in the asset library here.Ī private group led by Stickmasterluke (which involves some official Roblox administrators as members) had published a testing game called Avatar Future, which allowed users to experiment with scaling and packages pertaining to Rthro before it went private at the end of September 2018. The original avatars were named Ken (male avatar) and Barb (female avatar) by Roblox, following a similar naming fashion to the male and female Barbie dolls. These included faces, or what Roblox called "face projections", legs, textures for bodies, actual bodies, and other unconfirmed avatars. Many videos have surfaced on websites such as YouTube about this. Rthro Slender is achieved by setting Body Type to 100% and Proportions to 100%.īetween the time that Anthro was initially announced and when it was released, users have found the main files for Rthro inside Roblox's files.Rthro Normal is achieved by setting Body Type to 100% and Proportions to 0%.There are two types of Rthro characters: Rthro Normal and Rthro Slender. Many Rthro bundles are designed to be used with Body Type 100%, but they can be scaled down if the player want. Some Rthro bundles will also set Proportions to 100%. ( Proportions will only take affect if your Body Type is greater than 0%.)īundles tagged with "RTHRO" in the Catalog automatically set Body Type to 100% when equipped. Proportions makes your character a bit shorter with slightly wider hips. The Proportions scaling option is also sometimes used with Rthro characters. Body Type makes your character taller, and more slender/human-like. 0% is a classic R15 character, while 100% is a full Rthro character. Rthro characters use the Body Type scaling option.
Kami-guibi-tang Kamikihito Memory enhancement Traditional medicine. This comparative research approach enables future global clinical studies of traditional medicine to be conducted through the use of the formulations prescribed in each country. Overview Ebisu is a Japanese god of luck, wealth, and prosperity, particularly where the sea is concerned he is also the patron god of fishermen. A complex deity with many faces, Inari is variously referred to as male, female, and androgynous, depending on the context. 3D-HPLC showed similar, but not identical, patterns of the detected compounds between KKT and KGT. Overview Inari is the Japanese kami (a type of god or spirit in the Shinto religion) of prosperity, tea, agriculture (especially rice), industry, and smithing. KKT and KGT administration yielded equivalent normal memory enhancement effects. The term kami is often translated as god, lord, or deity, but it also includes other forces of nature, both good and evil, which, because of their superiority or divinity, become objects of reverence and respect. Gods and deities are typically interchangeable terms that. While Japan now uses the same calendar as the West, up until the mid-1800s it used a lunar calendar. kami, plural kami, object of worship in Shint and other indigenous religions of Japan. KKT (500 mg extract/kg/day) and KGT (500 mg extract/kg/day) were administered to ddY mice, and object recognition and location memory tests were performed. Kami are divine entities from the Shinto religion, one of the most prominent religions in Japan. The son of Izanami and Izanagi, the fire god is the father of eight warrior gods and eight mountain gods, amongst others. The drugs are called kamikihito (KKT) in Japan and kami-guibi-tang (KGT) in Korea. Kagutsuchi (aka Hi-no-Kagutsuchi) is the Shinto god or kami of fire and is also known as Homusubi. We prepared drugs that had the same origin and the same components. The present study compared the effects of same-origin traditional medicine used in Japan and Korea in an in vivo experiment. Establishing whether a same-origin formulation has equivalent effects in other countries is important for the development of studies that span multiple countries. More specifically, the word Kami refers to the powerful. There are many types of formulations that have been introduced to Japan and Korea from China. Kami refer to the spirits that inhabit all things in the native Japanese Shinto belief system. However, formulation-based studies are not globally understood because these studies are country-specific. Traditional medicine is widely used in East Asia, and studies that demonstrate its usefulness have recently become more common. They were okay they got a bit soggy, but I did quite like it dipped with my sauce after it cooked through. If you like herbs too, don’t forget those! Thai basil, mint, and culantro are tasty alongside hot soup on any day.įor protein, I found some vegan fish steaks that I sliced into pieces. Shanghai bok choy, baby bok choy, yu choy, watercress, snow pea tips and mustard spinach are my favourites because of how wilty they get but they also have a stem to help you pick things up and keep their structure in the soup. You’ll want to pick vegetables that can wilt quickly and cook quickly in the pot (nothing too hardy like gai lan or broccoli) as it takes a little too long for them to soften. The most important thing is that you have a variety of different things to cook up! I like to have puffy tofu, bean curd sheets, vegan shrimp and tons of mushrooms, but greens are very important and tasty too!įor this hot pot, I used snow pea tips (or shoots) and yu choy for greens, and some mung bean sprouts for a bit of crunch and freshness. I would definitely use it again since the broth is flavourful but it is after all just soup, so the sauce does make a difference. I found a vegan hot pot sauce at Nations (the Asian market in Hamilton) and it was really tasty! Spicy and savoury with a touch of nuttiness. Growing up my family mostly just used sriracha or hoisin sauce, but maybe that was just my family. What I’ve heard from Janelle (since she’s not vegan) is that at hot pot places, the dipping sauces range from various hot sauces, toasted sesame paste, or a smattering of different fancy dipping sauces that range from sweet to savoury to spicy. Nowadays, I could sit and eat forever XD As long as I have a show or movie to entertain myself though haha. All I wanted was noodles and vegetables and maybe the occasional squid, but mostly I just wanted to stop eating so I could go back to reading my book. My memories of this meal mostly include me trying to shield my bowl from my mom putting more fish or bits that I didn’t like into my bowl. Our table was lined with newspaper to catch all any spills and for us to spit out bones and bits of food we couldn’t eat, and our portable gas stove sat in the middle while we all sat at the table (or on the floor) around it. Growing up, my family had a lot of fish, seafood, mushrooms, noodles, and greens to choose from, and my dad was typically the designated person who put stuff into the soup, while my mom tended to be the one that scooped the food out once it was done cooking. Different cultures will have different styles of hot pot, and I haven’t really tried it any other way except with my family, so I’ll just take an educated guess that my family’s way (and the way I’ve had it with different members of my family) is the Vietnamese style of hot pot, so that’s the flavour profile this vegan hot pot is based on! There’s something so comforting and bonding about sharing a meal together with family and friends, and having one pot for everyone to mix different and varied ingredients together infuses the broth with more and more flavour as the meal goes on. Hot pot is such a multicultural meal that is so common all across Asia. Vietnamese hot pot is such a nostalgic meal it’s a great communal family dinner where people get to stew their favourite noodles and vegetables and enjoy them together! I’ve veganized it with my mother’s guidance to recreate this as a vegan hot pot for you to try at home! The new per-leg model, entitled $8 Internet We will no longer offer an $8 DayPass for internet. Effective Tuesday, February 21, internet will remain $8 but will be purchased per-leg (being introduced as “Takeoff to Landing”). To support the current and upcoming WiFi enhancements, Southwest is implementing a new internet pricing model. They’re switching to $8 per flight for internetĪccording to an internal Southwest company communication reviewed by View From The Wing,.Currently Southwest charges $8 per day for internet. In a change expected to be announced on Tuesday, they will be making it more expensive for passengers that have to take more than one flight to reach their destination. Southwest Airlines, whose bags fly free, is going the opposite direction with internet. Delta Air Lines has made wifi free as long as you join the free SkyMiles program (this lets them market their credit card to you). What do you think of free Southwest wifi as a credit card benefit? Are you planning on getting the Southwest Performance Business card? Leave a note in the comments.Inflight internet on JetBlue is free. It’s also subject to Chase 5/24, so if you’re over 5/24, you will likely not be approved. Sole proprietorships and other small businesses DO count for this, and you may have a business even if you don’t think that you do. Keep in mind that the card_name is, of course, a business card, so you will need to have an eligible business in order to apply for it. If you’re flying a lot on Southwest, being able to be connected while in the air seems like a big benefit – I know of no other airline that offers something like this. If you’re a frequent Southwest Airlines traveler, then having this card to get free Southwest wifi seems like a big no brainer. I also asked about the “4 upgraded bookings per year on Southwest” benefit and was told that you could purchase upgraded boardings at the gate or ticket counter on the day of travel, up to 4 times per year, and they would be reimbursed as a statement credit. You also get 9,000 points on your anniversary and a Global Entry or TSA Pre credit (worth nominally $95 if you don’t have enough of those already). That’s worth easily $1,000 in travel on Southwest and if that puts you over the edge for the Southwest Companion Pass, then it becomes $2,000 in travel. In my mind, the big benefit of the card_name is the welcome offer that allows you to bonus_miles_full. But free Southwest wifi just has a WAY better ring to it □Īnd of course all Southwest flights already come with free inflight entertainment So “free Southwest wifi” is perhaps not ENTIRELY correct – maybe a better way to put it would be “unlimited Southwest wifi with your annual_fees annual fee”. Note that the Southwest Performance Business card DOES come with an annual fee of annual_fees, not waived the first year. Well, unless you’re traveling on February 29th… She did clarify that you could use multiple credits in a given day (for multiple devices), so it’s not technically free wifi for every day of the year, but that to me seems even better since there are fairly few people that are on a Southwest plane literally EVERY day of the year! Southwest wifi only COSTS $8 for a whole day of wifi! So to me this seems like unlimited free Southwest wifi. I reached out to my contact at Chase to ask about this, and she responded that it was: When the Southwest Performance Business card came out, the benefits just said it came with “Inflight wi-fi credits”. While most of the early buzz was about how the welcome offer can knock out the vast majority of the 125,000 Rapid Rewards points that you need in a calendar year to earn the Southwest Companion Pass, there were 2 benefits included in the card that made me give a second look. You also have access to a variety of other amenities. We have written about the card_name before, talking about how you can bonus_miles_full. Unfortunately, the locomotive also earned the sad distinction as being the first to suffer a boiler explosion, which occurred during June of 1831.Īs the story goes the fireman became vexed by its constant hissing noise and tightened the safety valve closed (he later died of his wounds). That honor is bestowed upon the South Carolina Canal & Railroad Company's Best Friend of Charleston, built by New York's West Point Foundry, when the 0-4-0 carried a train of paying customers on December 25, 1830. Since the Thumb was only an experiment, another locomotive was given recognition as the first American-built design to haul a revenue passenger train. While it did spend a year carrying passengers from time to time it never entered regular service and was later scrapped in 1834 (a replica is on display at the museum, constructed for the B&O's 1927 Fair of the Iron Horse and based from drawings Cooper had provided in 1875). The little one-ton coal-burner, featuring a vertical boiler, lost the bout (while carrying 30 patrons in a train consisting of a single coach) but had nevertheless proved its viability.Īccording to the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum the locomotive was capable of speeds up to 15 mph. On August 28, 1830, Peter Cooper's Tom Thumb famously raced a horse on the fledgling Baltimore & Ohio. Unfortunately, its ultimate fate was rather unglamorous it proved too heavy for the track and languished in a shed before finally being scrapped in 1870.įollowing its trials American steam technology quickly advanced. The Lion went on to carry out test trials on August 8, 1829, earning it distinction as the first use of a steam locomotive in the United States. Unfortunately, due to circumstances never fully understood the America failed to reach the D&H property. They remain so well-liked that even Union Pacific maintains a small fleet for public relations. Today, preserved steam locomotives, both large and small, can be found throughout the country and their sustained popularity has led to numerous restorations. Unquestionably, American designs were the most powerful, particularly after the introduction of articulation, which led to enormous variants like the 2-6-6-6 "Allegheny," 4-6-6-4 "Challenger," and 4-8-8-4 "Big Boy." The argument persists to this day regarding whose were more impressive, American or British? Development In the succeeding years ever-larger types were conceived to handle increasingly greater demand. Its initiation here began in 1826 when Colonel John Stevens showcased his "Steam Waggon" (basically a steam-powered horse carriage) on a small circular track at his estate in Hoboken, New Jersey. It was largely responsible for driving the American industrial machine although has its origins in England, with the first patented version credited to Richard Trevithick and Andrew Vivian in 1802. Nothing else in railroading has ever been quite as alluring. Steam locomotives are impressive, captivating, ingenious, complex, and dangerous devices all wrapped within a single frame. Since the community wasn’t big at the beginning, I couldn’t compromise on such low amounts of like.Įnter Local Storage. I know that people hate signups and that I might get way less likes if only signed-up users could click the button. Since I wanted Color Hunt to be curated not only by me, either by the users themselves, I added the like button for each palette so the users could curate the collection themselves by clicking the button on the palettes they find beautiful.īut I knew that in order to run a likes system, I have to force my users to signup for the website, or connect using Facebook or Twitter, and I didn’t want to do that. In that way I can review each and every creation before it goes public and choose the very best of these to show on Color Hunt’s homepage. Instead of immediately showing every new palette on the homepage, all new palettes are sent to a managing dashboard I built. Color Hunt’s idea was to be a hand-picked collection on one hand, but also to be open and collaborative on the other hand. More palettes created by users = lower quality and less-curated collection. Anyone who wants can contribute to the collection and submit their own color palette to Color Hunt. So I decided to make the Palette Creator public. My time is limited since I’m a full-time designer in a startup, and even on the creative aspect, I can’t come up with so many different color combinations. I wanted to grow Color Hunt to have thousands of palettes, but I couldn’t create so many by myself. By showing the colors HEX codes on a mouse over I created a way to access the codes quickly without needing to click and navigate to a different page, and also, kept the layout clean and appealing. I wanted to make a resource that feels alive, dynamic, and interactive. Then came the two following ideas: A) the like button that lets users save their favorite palettes, and B) the sorting menu that lets users change the order of the listed palettes based on their popularity, their age, or just random. A ratio that gives each color a different importance by displaying it in a different size.Īfter getting this simple web page ready, I decided to transform this personal collection into a public resource for the world. I set some rules such as limiting the amount of colors in each palette to four, and displaying the colors in each palette with a specific hierarchy I came up with. To let myself quickly add more palettes to the database, I developed a simple Palette Creator. I started by making a simple HTML page that lists some color palettes I created, and connected it to a database where I store all the palettes. I’m not a professional web developer nor an experienced marketeer, but I know how to combine colors. I thought that by doing that, I can easily send a link to my friends and direct them instantly to pick a color palette I made before. Friends of mine which are content creators or work in the creative field, were sending me messages once in a while that go like “Hey Gal, can you help me choose 5 colors for a pie-chart I’m making?” or a request like “Can you advise 3 colors that work with purple?”Īfter too many distracting and context-switching requests, I came up with the idea of setting up a simple web page, that features several basic color combinations I made. It all started from a repeating situation of me being asked by someone to help with choosing colors for their work. I started Color Hunt with the goal of sharing my passion for colors, and provide a go-to resource for designers, artists, developers, illustrators, and basically anyone who needs a fresh color combination for their design project. In this article I’m going to tell the story of Color Hunt, a curated collection of color palettes. |
